For your website migration from Aruba to SiteGround, you can either contact our team for assistance, or transfer the website by yourself. There are two ways to have your website transferred by us:
- You can take advantage of our automated WordPress Migrator plugin available in your cPanel. It will allow you to transfer multiple WordPress websites at no extra cost.
- You can order a manual website transfer from your User Area -> Support -> Request Assistance From Our Team -> Transfer Website. In this case our migrations team will take care of the website transfer for you.
Alternatively you can transfer the website manually by yourself. To do that you will need to login to your Aruba account.
You can start with transferring the files first. If your IP address is not whitelisted to access the FTP service, you should make sure to fix that. For that purpose go to FTP Access Management and add your IP address to the whitelist.
Now you should be able to initiate the file transfer. Login with the user listed on the FTP Access Management page and your account\'s password. Navigate to the document root of your domain and download all files present there. The next step in the files migration is to login to your joomla site account via FTP. Navigate to the domain\'s document root (if your domain is primary to the account - the document root would be ~/public_html). In this directory you should upload the files you downloaded from Aruba.
Let\'s continue with the migration of your website\'s database. In your Aruba customer area find the Control Panel button and click on it. This will lead you to the control panel\'s homepage. Find the Database menu on the left and expand it. Click on the Manage button in the MySQL section. In the next page you should enter your MySQL user and password. In case you are not certain what those details are, you can look them up in the configuration file of your application (wp-config.php for WordPress, configuration.php for Joomla, app/etc/env.php for Magento 2.x, sites/default/settings.php for Drupal etc). Once you find and enter them, click on the Login button and you will be redirected to a database management tool. In that tool you should find your website\'s database on the left and click on it. Click Export, then choose Quick - display only the minimal options. After you export the database and save it in a file on your local machine, login to your joomla site cPanel. Create a new MySQL database and user and then open the PHP My Admin tool. Find and click on the newly created database, select Import and use the Browse button to find the file you exported from Aruba. Leave all the other options as they are and click Go.
The final step is to configure the website on your account with joomla site to use the correct database details. Open up the application\'s configuration file (wp-config.php for WordPress, configuration.php for Joomla, app/etc/env.php for Magento 2.x, sites/default/settings.php for Drupal etc). Substitute the old database details (MySQL user, password and database name) with the new ones. You should also change the MySQL hostname to localhost.
